How to Update ResaleAI on a POS

Important Note:

Newer versions of ResaleAI are not compatible with Windows XP computers.

If you have a POS computer using Windows XP, you cannot update to newer versions of ResaleAI until the computer has been updated or replaced (not sure what version you have? Check here!)

The highest version of ResaleAI that you can use on Windows XP is version 2.5.5
1) Check what version of ResaleAI POS is currently installed

Open the ResaleAI application on your POS

Look at the left corner along the top bar of the application. It will display the version of ResaleAI you have installed

The most recent stable version is version 2.20. If the first few numbers are not 2.20 you'll need to update to the newest version of ResaleAI

You can also find the version number by looking for the small orange AI icon in the very bottom-right system tray. Click that AI icon, and the version number will show at the top of the menu.
- If you do not see 2.20 then you will need to update to the newest version of ResaleAI.
2) Update to the newest version
Check for updates
-
Be sure you are logged on to the POS computer with the owner login in order to install any updates

Click the Windows Start button

Find ResaleAI
-
Click "Check for Updates"
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to update ResaleAI to the newest version. If you have any issues, refer to the next section for help
6. If you just updated to the newer beta version of ResaleAI, skip to the last section for more info!
Troubleshooting:
"Check for updates" does nothing

Log off the POS and log on with the owner account, then try clicking "Check for updates" again

If your POS currently has ResaleAI version 2.5.1 or lower, you may need to install a newer version of ResaleAI before you can check for updates. See install instructions below - but double check that your computer is not on Windows XP before you can update!
"ResaleAI is currently running" error message

Look for a small orange AI icon in the very bottom right system tray of the computer. (You may have to click a small "up" arrow to see the icons)

Click on the AI icon, then click "Exit"

Close the main ResaleAI app if it is running. Then try clicking "Check for updates" again
If needed, install a newer version of ResaleAI

Be sure you are logged on to the POS computer with the owner login in order to install any updates

Open a browser like Chrome, and go to resaleai.com/install

Click the button at the top that says "Download"

If given the option to "Save" or "Run", select "Run". Otherwise, wait for the file to finish downloading. Then click on the download once complete, and click to Run the installer.

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. If you have issues, see the previous section for help.

When the ResaleAI app has been installed, click "Check for updates" once more to make sure you have the latest update (see instructions in previous section)

If you just updated to the newer beta version of ResaleAI, and haven't seen it before, some things are different!
